Brand new Photo Gallery

http://www.digitaldutch.com/arles/overview/images/random-rotation-gallery.jpg

We have today updated our old and rather complicated photo gallery to a new and, we think, easier to use, gallery based on Gallery2, a well known web-based photo gallery feature.

You can now all have your own albums and photos and what's more, there's a cool Flash Slide Show feature and lots of other features to help you show off your photos in your website in a safe environment.

All we ask is that all of the photos you upload are from yours or your friend's or family or teacher's camera and it is all original - please try to compress your photos before uploading.

For those of you who have already got photos on the old gallery, don't worry, we'll be copying them over to the new one really soon and we'll be updating the Silver Award to reflect the changes. If you've already submitted your checklist for the silver award, you will still be eligible for receiving the certificate and also go into the prize draw.

Meanwhile, watch this short video that shows you how to get started with adding photos to your first photo album.

World Telecommunication and Information Society Day

I’m sure you chat online with friends, check your email, or even do your research for homework over the Internet sometimes. However, think about it for a second. Like a coin which has two sides, the Internet has good and bad in itself. It can have both a positive and a negative effect on you.

17th May of every year has been designated World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD), and the theme for this year is Protecting Children in Cyberspace. It is time for us to realise the safety of using the Internet. Click here to learn more about World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.

It is important for you to know how to use the Internet safely. For example, you should not use the Internet to spread gossip, bully, or threaten others. You should not make financial transactions online, including ordering, buying or selling items without the supervision of your parents. And you should be aware of, and stay away from, online gambling.

You should not spend too much time on the Internet and need to balance your time on it with time in the real world with real people.

The Internet holds an enormous amount of data, and much of it is not appropriate for young users, so be careful when you use it. Use the Internet wisely. Want to use Internet better, click here

School-to-school Forums

We have good news to all students. Now, you can have a special connecting forum from specific school to school besides posting in the Leicestershire, Chiang Mai and Miri forum. So which school are you connecting with?

When you entered the Leicestershire, Chiang Mai and Miri forum, you can see the list of the topics. On the top of the topics, there is another table called School-to-school Forums. For SMK Bintulu, our classroom will be connected with Doi Saket Wittayakom School, Burleigh Community College and Thomas Estley Community College.

The purpose of this forum is to get the students keep in touch more closely with their working partners. Only the school involved in the specific forum can view the School-to-school Forums.

So please get interactive.

International Day of Families

A family, as we all know, is more than a husband and wife. It includes other members. The common cause of a family is to share love and partnership. Thus families are the basis of a community or social group, and they have a crucial role in building community life.

A healthy family unit is one that respects and cares for all its members. This is a very important foundation for the worldwide community. May 15 was proclaimed International Day of Families when we celebrate and promote awareness of the importance of the family unit alongside the challenges we face in a changing world. Find out more information about International Day of Families, click here

Every year International Family Day has a different theme. The theme for 2009, as decreed and supported by the United Nations, is "Mothers and Families: Challenges in a Changing World". For more information on theme, click here . We strongly believe that concern and awareness of the importance of a family will make the world a better place for us all. So any day could be your family day. Just don’t forget to tell your family how much love and care you have for them.
